PREPARATION
Getting a tattoo is an exciting experience & my goal is to give you a tattoo you'll cherish for a lifetime! That starts with making sure your experience is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Whether this is your first tattoo or you're a seasoned collector, taking a few moments to prepare properly will help ensure the best outcome.
Good preparation not only makes your session more comfortable but also improves the final result. Follow these simple steps to ensure you're fully ready for the big day.
For those traveling from across the world, I’m incredibly grateful and honoured to welcome you. To make your journey as seamless as possible, I’ve included everything you need to know about getting here, transport options, and where to stay.
BEFORE
Moisturise
Lotion the area you’re getting tattooed once or twice daily leading up to your appointment. Well-hydrated skin significantly improves the quality of your tattoo.
Hydration
Keeping your body well-hydrated makes your skin more resilient and helps speed up the healing process after your session.
Food
Be sure to eat before your tattoo session. Having a sugary snack or drink during your session can help maintain stable blood sugar levels. Getting tattooed can be physically demanding, and staying nourished makes pain management much easier.
Clothing
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. If possible, opt for plain black clothing—it makes a big difference when photographing your tattoo!
Feeling Unwell?
I know you don’t want to reschedule an appointment you’ve been waiting for—I get it! But if you're feeling unwell leading up to or on the morning of your appointment, please get in touch to reschedule. Coming in sick is bad etiquette and may result in being refused to tattoo.
DURING
Drawing
During your first session, a significant amount of time is dedicated to placing the stencil, drawing, and perfecting the design on your body. While I’m working on this, please keep conversation minimal as it helps me a lot if I can focus without distractions.
Pain Relief
Taking painkillers like Paracetamol & Ibuprofen before and during your session can help ease discomfort. Please avoid using numbing cream, as it can slow down the process. However, if you’re considering using it, reach out to me beforehand. The best option available is Tattoo Numbing Cream Co. Above all, a good mental attitude goes a long way!
Entertainment
You’re welcome to bring an iPad/tablet and headphones for some passive entertainment.
Lunch
We usually take a 30-minute lunch break, so be sure to bring something to eat. It’s also a good idea to pack some sugary snacks or drinks to help maintain your blood sugar levels throughout the session.
Don’t Rush
Please don’t schedule commitments immediately after your tattoo session. Allow time after your session for possible photos of your tattoo or arranging future appointments if needed.
AFTER
Ink-Sential
Made using 100% natural ingredients Ink-Sential has been tested and approved by award winning tattooists from around the world. They have used natural skin conditioning ingredients to help reduce inflammation and irritation as well as actively speeding up the recovery, reducing itch, scabbing and bruising while also keeping the area hygienically clean. Ink-Sential is available to buy in the studio.
-
Remove the clingfilm bandage after 3-4 hours. Using clean hands, gently wash the tattoo with soap and lukewarm water and be sure to pat dry with a clean towel.
Apply a layer of Ink-Sential. Only re-wrap the tattoo with clingfilm if you may get dust/dirt around the area.
Gently wash your tattoo area twice a day with soap and water and gently pat dry before reapplying Ink-Sential. You should repeat this process for 2 to 3 weeks.
As the layers of skin begin to re-build apply moisturising cream to the tattoo for another week.
If your tattoo seeps ink, scabs or develops hard layers, don’t worry. It’s normal. But never pick, scratch, or peel it.
Try to avoid tight, restrictive clothing that will stick to your tattoo.
Avoid swimming and the sun for at least 2 weeks.
ARRIVAL
The studio is located in Lurgan, Northern Ireland, and is about a 40-minute drive from both Belfast International Airport and George Best Belfast City Airport.

By Taxi: Uber/Bolt isn’t available in parts of Northern Ireland, the alternative I recommend using is the ‘fonaCAB Belfast’ app.
By Train: The train station in Lurgan is just a 2-minute walk from the studio.
